Fatuhiva 1937
On the 25th. of December 1936, just
married, Thor Heyerdahl and Liv Heyerdahl began their long trip to the
exotic island of Fatu Hiva in French Polynesia. This trip, detailed in
Back to Nature in National Geographic Magazine in 1941 and the book
Fatu Hiva in 1974, would set Thor Heyerdahl on the path to the Kon-Tiki
Expedition and world fame.
From this trip to Fatu Hiva The Kon-Tiki Museum photographic archives
contain about half. The rest is owned by the Thor Heyerdahl Family
Estate and is deposited in the home of Bjørn Heyerdahl in Colla
Micheri, Italy. |
